Care Information
Climbing, professional, and rescue equipment are investments in your safety. Proper maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your gear.
- Sport Climbing Equipment
Harness
- Clean with clean water and mild soap (pH neutral). Avoid harsh detergents or bleach.
- Dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Check regularly: seams, buckles, and webbing for signs of wear, tears, or damage.
- Store in a dry, cool place, away from chemicals, oils, and UV rays.
- Replace the harness if it has been dropped under a heavy load (high fall factor), shows visible damage, or is more than 10 years old from the date of manufacture.
Tali / Rope
- Wash with cold water and a special rope wash. Rinse thoroughly.
- Air-dry; avoid tumble dryers and direct sunlight.
- Store in a rope bag or loosely coiled in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid contact with chemicals, acids, bases, and oils.
- Check periodically for core damage, sheath wear, and stiff spots.
- Retire the rope after a high fall factor, if damage to the sheath or core is visible, or as recommended by the manufacturer.
Carabiner & Hardware
- Clean with clean water and a soft brush. Dry thoroughly before storing.
- Lubricate the valve spring with a dry lubricant if it feels stiff.
- Check: that the valve is working properly, and inspect the seat and locking mechanism, as well as the surfaces, for any signs of cracks or corrosion.
- Do not use a carabiner that has fallen from a significant height or appears to be cracked or bent.
Climbing shoes
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth after use. Avoid soaking in water.
- Dry in the shade in a well-ventilated area.
- Store in a cool, dry place; avoid excessive pressure, which may cause the shoes to lose their shape.
- The soles can be re-soled by a professional climbing shoe technician when the rubber begins to wear thin.
- Professional / Industrial Rope Access
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Follow the maintenance standards set out in EN 365 and the manufacturer’s guidelines for each item of equipment.
- Record every use in the equipment log book — date, condition and any incidents.
- Carry out a pre-use inspection before each use and periodic inspections by a Competent Person.
- Store separately from chemicals, heat and other sources of contamination.
Descender & Ascender
- Clean off dirt, dust and debris after each use.
- Check the cam, teeth and moving parts for wear or damage.
- Lubricate the moving parts in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Store in a dry and clean place.
Anchor & Rigging Equipment
- Thoroughly inspect webbing slings, rope slings and anchor points before use.
- Replace any slings showing signs of wear, excessive UV exposure or chemical contamination.
- Document all inspections in the equipment log book.
- Rescue Equipment
Rescue Rope & Rigging
- Clean after every rescue operation — particularly if it has come into contact with mud, seawater or chemicals.
- Dry thoroughly before storing to prevent mould and fibre degradation.
- Store in a clean, dry rope bag, ready for deployment at any time.
- Carry out load tests and regular inspections in accordance with the team’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Rescue Hardware (Pulley, Prusik, Belay Device)
- Clean and inspect after each operational use.
- Ensure that all moving parts are functioning correctly and are free from debris.
- Replace immediately if any damage is found — do not use equipment whose condition is in doubt.
Helmet
- Clean with water and mild soap. Avoid chemical solvents.
- Check the shell, suspension system and chin strap regularly.
- Replace the helmet after it has sustained a significant impact, even if there is no visible external damage.
- Replace in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations (generally 5–10 years from the date of manufacture).
- General Principles of Care
- Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines — each product has different care specifications.
- Discard equipment that has exceeded its service life, appears damaged, or has been subjected to extreme loads.
- Do not modify the equipment in any way.
- Store it correctly — away from UV light, heat, chemicals and excessive moisture.
- If you are unsure about the condition of the equipment, do not use it and consult us.

Compact descender for rope access work, designed for expert users
The RIG descender is designed to meet the needs of experienced rope access technicians who work on rope every day. Featuring an ergonomic handle that provides excellent descent control, this compact and easy-to-use descender makes your workday easier. The AUTO-LOCK function allows users to easily position themselves at a workstation without manual operation. With increased durability, the shape of the cam limits wear. For intensive use and demanding work conditions, or simply for a long-lasting solution, the RIG is also available in a repairable version.
Description
- Designed for experienced users working in rope access and technical rescue
- Easy to use:
- Markings and rope guide make it quick and easy to install the rope
- Ergonomic handle provides good grip and excellent descent control
- Moving side plate can be opened while the device remains connected to the harness, making it easier to pass intermediate anchors
- The AUTO-LOCK system allows users to easily position themselves at a workstation without having to manipulate the handle or tie off the device
- Handle automatically switches to storage position when the rope is removed from the device, reducing the risk of accidental snagging when the descender is carried on the harness
- Versatile:
- Two possible descent modes: with the rope running over the side plate or in the V-shaped friction channel, which provides better descent control and helps keep the rope from kinking
- Can be used connected to the harness or to an anchor
- Once the rope is blocked, it is possible to ascend in short spurts without manipulating the handle by simply pulling the rope through the device
- Can be used to belay a lead with techniques used in climbing
- Durable and repairable:
- Reinforced protection on the rope friction zone helps prevent premature wear on the moving side plate
- Cam shape improves rope pinching and limits wear on the device
- For a longer-lasting solution or to account for intensive use and demanding work conditions, the RIG is also available in a repairable version (D021BA00 / D021BA01); replace the cam and pin using the repair kit (sold separately, D021CA00)
